Per Wikipedia, “a librarian is a person who professionally works managing information. Librarians' common activities include providing access to information, conducting research, creating and managing information systems, creating, leading, and evaluating educational programs, and providing instruction on information literacy to users.” Donna Butler is this and more.
Donna started as a storyteller for the library in 2009. She became the Branch Manager of the Bogart Library in March 2013. Donna’s energy and love of people, books and learning earned the award, Athens Regional Library Distinguished Staff Person of the Year in 2015. She played an essential roll in the remodeling transition, assuring the library stayed open through the process; participated in community events, engaging and citizens to the resources available at the library. The events calendar is always full of activities for all ages. Donna and staff are devoted to assisting people with resources at hand, and will search out alternatives to share readily.
Donna will retire at the end of March. The City of Bogart wishes her well as it is much deserved. Thank you, Donna for creating an oasis in our little city. It has been a pleasure to work with you; to know you and to love you.
