Portrait of Bogart City Councilman Greg Maddox

Greg Maddox

Greg is a third generation Bogartian. He recalls stories from his mother of riding the mule drawn cotton wagon to the cotton gin located in the building still present behind Cappy's Custom Cabinets. His grandparents were sharecroppers growning cotton. His mother was delivered by Dr. Elder whose house is in front of the old gin. His Mamaw's sausage recipe is still being used at AJ's. Greg was raised in Athens and graduated from the University of Georgia with degrees in Criminal Justice and Philosophy. He served in the Navy and is a veteran of the Gulf War. He also worked in law enforcement ending his career as a detective and instructor at the police academy. He is proudly married to Denisse, his wife of 20 years who is a teacher at Dove Creek Elementary. He has a son that will soon be attending Berry College then off to Georgia Tech. When not working on his honey do list, his favorite pastime is playing golf.
